Rooted in American agriculture and the communities that sustain it, PureField produces essential food ingredients and transforms wheat protein waste into biofuels. Through our Carbon Capture & Sequestration investment, we are positioned to become the first zero-carbon fuel producer at scale in the world, advancing U.S. energy leadership from the ground up.

PROJECT IMPACT
PureField’s CCS program captures biogenic CO₂ directly from fermentation and permanently stores it in a deep geological formation. Instead of entering the atmosphere, carbon is securely injected and mineralizes over time.
Every metric is monitored, verified, and transparently reported.

Powering the World with Zero-Carbon Fuel

The Lowest Carbon Footprint in Wheat Protein
How CCS Works
PureField’s CCS system uses proven industrial technology at every step — from capture to permanent storage.

Carbon Intensity Reduction

Designed to the Highest Safety Standards

Real-Time Monitoring

Automated safeguards with built-in redundancy

Constant collaboration with emergency responders & regulatory agencies (EPA, state, local)

Long-term, pre-funded commitment for post-injection monitoring & site care
BUILT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OUR COMMUNITY
PureField’s CCS project was developed in collaboration with 30 local landowners and represents more than $60 million of investment in Russell County. This investment strengthens the local agricultural economy by creating additional high-value outlets for farmers producing high-quality wheat, sorghum, and corn.
- Strong support from community & farmers, supported by our local grain purchasing, job creation, and reinvestment in the Russell community
- All land rights & rights-of-way negotiated voluntarily, reflecting long-standing collaboration with local landowners
- Active engagement and support at the city, county, and state levels throughout development
- Broad stakeholder alignment around the long-term economic and environmental impact
We are proud to invest in the long-term strength of the community where we operate — bringing innovative, future-focused opportunities to Kansas.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Carbon Capture & Sequestration proven and safe for the community?
Our project utilizes proven methods and materials and exceeds the greatest safety standards from federal, state, and local regulators.
Is the geology suitable for injection?
The storage site is a deep underground saltwater formation, selected for its ability to safely and permanently store CO2. The site is ~3,500 feet below the lowest drinking water source and is protected by multiple layers of non-porous caprock that prevent gas escape.
How are the Carbon Capture & Sequestration operations monitored?
As part of the EPA Class VI Well Permit, PureField has installed multiple monitoring wells and stations that provide comprehensive measurements of all injection & sequestration activities. We regularly calibrate our instruments to ensure accuracy and transparency, in line with industry best practices.
What happens after injection ends?
PureField will permanently close the injection wells and monitor the storage complex for up to 50 or more years after injection ceases, as required by the EPA.
What is the impact of Carbon Capture & Sequestration?
Our Carbon Capture & Sequestration project positions PureField as a leader in the zero-carbon fuel space and reduces the carbon intensity of our food ingredients — furthering U.S. clean energy leadership from the ground up. This investment will create and retain local jobs, increase grain purchases from American farmers, and deepen our commitment to the Russell community.
